Date 1 Buying Silence Speaking up Weinstein Rape - 3 Sexual Assault - 4 Sexual Harassment - 3 Victims' Allegations Victims "Sixteen former and current executives and assistants at Weinstein’s companies told me that they witnessed or had knowledge of unwanted sexual advances and touching at events associated with Weinstein’s films and in the workplace." -- New Yorker Witnesses Witnesses Non-disclosure Agreements Chilling Effect Whether the non-disclosure clauses between Weinstein and actresses or employees harassed by him are enforceable? Victims "Mr. Weinstein has reached at least eight settlements with women, according to two company officials speaking on the condition of anonymity. Among the recipients, The Times found, were a young assistant in New York in 1990, an actress in 1997, an assistant in London in 1998, an Italian model in 2015 and Ms. O’Connor shortly after, according to records and those familiar with the agreements." -NYT NDA - Victims "Gutierrez, when contacted for this story, said that she was unable to discuss the incident. Someone close to the matter told me that, after the D.A.’s office decided not to press charges, Gutierrez, facing Weinstein’s legal team, and in return for a payment, signed a highly restrictive nondisclosure agreement with Weinstein, including an affidavit stating that the acts he admits to in the recording never happened." - The New Yorker NDA - Victims Witnesses "The employees spoke on condition of anonymity because, they said, they feared for their careers in Hollywood and because of provisos in their work contracts." -The New Yorker NDA - Witnesses "The female executive who declined inappropriate meetings told me that her lawyer advised her that she could be liable for hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages for violating the nondisclosure agreement attached to her employment contract." -The New Yorker Potential Consequences Media "Weinstein and his legal team have threatened to sue multiple media outlets, including the New York Times." "Wigand's interview with Wallace, which 60 Minutes was preparing to air, created a rift at CBS. The company's legal department said it feared a multibillion dollar lawsuit for interfering with Wigand's confidentiality agreement with Brown & Williamson, and CBS ordered 60 Minutes not to run the story." - "60 Minutes' most famous whistleblower" Chilling Effect Broad Waiver in Employment Contract Narrowly Tailered Waiver in Settlement agreement NDAs regarding to Sexual harrassment NDAs Broad Federal: National Labor Relation Act of 1935 ("Wagner Act") "PTS committed unfair labor practices by ordering employees not to discuss a sexual harassment case and later discharging an employee for violating that directive." Transcript: When did these events happen? THANK YOU! How long does radiation take to disperse? So far as we know. The radiation has spread to areas of Europe such as; - Belarus - Ukraine - Russia - Sweden - Finland - Austria - Norway - Bulgaria - Switzerland - Greece - Slovenia - Italy - Moldova These radiation levels aren't enough to kill us, but are enough to leave small effects on our body. eg - small cancers (only if exposed to a large amount of this small radiation.) For reading this ^-^ From reading the information I found online. It seems as if the government of the country where the incident had occurred is the one that decides on how to handle the situation. That's why you see militia patrolling the borders of these areas, because the government is in control of the area surrounding the catastrophe. The government decides on how to control the situation, what kinds of people are allowed into the area. SIDE B Depending on how much radiation there is, the process of decay can take up to hundreds and thousands of years. Tho while this does mean that the radiation leaked from the disasters will take many, many years to decay and deplete from the area, this does allow us to experiment with the radiation while it lasts as long as we doesn't worsen the current situation with the radiation. Then we shall be able to further our understanding with how radiation works when it released into the enviroment. Who decides on what to do when a reactor malfunctions such as Chernobyl and Fukushima? Where did the radiation spread to? To even get in the area, you need government approval to go in there. Though going in there without government approval is illegal. To get close to the radiation areas, in small rad zones, protective gear is enough, to get anywhere further in where there is more rad levels, you would need to use Level A Hazmat suits. These suits protect you entirely from radiation and can allow you to walk around for a few hours inside high level rad areas. Why are they still able to get close when protective gear is not enough? NUCLEAR DISASTERS [Fukushima & Chernobyl] SIDE A Chernobyl happened on April 26th 1986. Specifically at 1:20am. Fukushima happened on March 11th 2011. They are both reactor meltdowns and disasters. Fukushima happened because of the earthquakes that had happened earlier, then followed up by the tsunami that hit the plant causing it to explode and meltdown from the sudden impact of the water and explosions. Chernobyl happened because of a core breaking down, one of the employees knew that it wasnt safe to run, but from the fear of his boss firing him, ran the reactor with his bosses approval. Thus this is the cause of the disaster that occured from it. https://www.nde-ed.org/EducationResources/CommunityCollege/RadiationSafety/theory/decay.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_and_radiation_accidents_and_incidents (used to check some info) http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/Safety-and-Security/Safety-of-Plants/Safety-of-Nuclear-Power-Reactors/ http://www.unscear.org/unscear/en/fukushima.html http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3246178/ 63,000 people were evacuated from the cities nearby. (Total of both disasters) The affect of this disaster is still ongoing, for eg: - Cancer in offspring - Losing a lot of belongings - Diseases going around through offspring and infected. More affects of the disaster are still going on even to this day, tho most are being contained through medical research and experimentaion. These affects will still be in place for years to come, tho they shall die down and the affects will slowly dissapear and the helth problems will be resolved. What affects do these reactions have on people’s lives and living conditions?

Bullying is when one person (or a group of people) with more power than someone else tries to upset or hurt them. This power can come from being more popular, stronger or part of the group. Transcript: Def'n: A binding agreement where one party or two parties share confidential information. There are two kinds of NDAs... This kind covers situations where information is flowing from the "Discloser" to the "Recipient". A mutual nda covers situations where CBC and the third party exchange information. The CBC mutual nda template is used. When a component needs a mutual nda they can fill out the mutual nda request form that outlines the third party and more importantly THE PURPOSE. Examples of purpose: Explore a potential business relationship Share trade secrets Share technology Attention must be paid to proper corporate name of third party when completing the draft nda. Particular care must be given to the DSA to ensure that the right person executes the nda Contact Brigitte Veilleux in English Media if you are uncertain or your component is uncertain of the DSA. Shelley and Carrie are the administrators of NDAs in Ontario. Important things to remember i) NDAs each have a specific purpose under certain conditions ii) The law department is involved in reviewing both mutual and (if such a case is allowed) and third party ndas. iii) Only an exceptional situation would necessitate using a third party's NDA. ndas and procurement Consideration must be given whether the meeting that a CBC employee intends to have with the outside party signing the nda actually relates to the possible of goods and services If there might be a purchase of goods and/or services then a lawyer needs to consult with Supply Management as there exists a separate nda under the Procurement Policy. Non-Disclosure Agreements or Mutual
