One of them is the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. This tree came to be when Lee Mendelson read The Fir Tree by Hans Christian Anderson. Then Mendelson and Charles Schulz started Charlie Brown Christmas. data:image/j People didn't always use the ornaments for Christmas trees we do now. People used fruits and nuts instead of baubles. When the first baubles came out they looked like fruits and nuts. Hans Greiner invented the bauble. He also made garlands glass beads and tin figures. Instead of the other decorations we have, people first used fruit, candy, and pastries. Before electricity, people used candles. They were attached with pins or glued with melted wax. Then they were placed in glass balls and lanterns. Candles were expensive in those days. hange HRISTMAS The very first Christmas tree was discovered in Riga, Latvia in 1510. Transcript: Over time birth rates have dropped along with the death rates, and life expectancy has gone up. There seems to be a trend through when birth rates go down, death is down causing life expectancy to go up. By my thinking I think that it has to do with the change economy, and what wars they went through. Pros Obeche Tree Mahogany Tree Iroko Tree Death Rate Cote D'Ivoire Ivory Coast Infant Mortality Rate Plant Life Biome: In the Forest zone of Ivory Coast it houses all different kinds of species. It is a flat land as well as all the other pieces of land in Ivory Coast. In the North it houses 10 different species of Antelopes, lions and herds of elephants. In Komoe National Park it is stocked with many verities of species; lions, elephants, and monkeys and over 400 species of birds. There is also Tai National Park that has hippos and chimps. Information about Cote D'Ivoire Birth Rate: 34 births/1000 population Death Rate: 9.67 deaths/1000 population Average Life Expectancy: 58 years old, which has gone up, slowly. Infant Mortality: 60.16 deaths/1000 live births Population Density: 71 -Ivory Coast suffers from Heavy Surf and Torrential Flooding. -Malaria -Deforestation -Water pollution Cons Animal Life Birth rate Literacy: 57% over the age of 15 The Economy of Cote D'Ivoire isn't the best, but Unemployment rates are non-existent, they export $13 billion and import $10 billion. The people are known as Ivorian, they speak French and Dioula, Majority follow Islam followed by Christianity, and the median age there is 20 years old. The music that has become popular to the country is Reggae. The main sports played there is soccer, basketball and boxing. The biggest attraction to Ivory Coast is its largest city, Abibjan. Abibjan is considered the Paris of West Africa. The Capitol is Yamoussoukro which its major attraction is Basilica of Our Lady of Peace which they claim it to be the largest church in the world, it is just a modern version of the Vatican city. Three facts about Ivory Coast is that it has two capitols, Abibjan is its economic, where Yamoussoukro is its political. I find this interesting for that a country normally has only one capital. Abibjan covers 981 square miles which I find interesting for that is quite large. Agriculture is important to the country for 70% work in the agricultural field. Which I find suprising for that would mean that almost 16 million people work in that field, in that country. Miscellaneous Information about Cote D'Ivoire Wildlife of Ivory Coast Niche of a Jackal The Jackal is very similar to North America's Coyote. It's a medium sized animal, they scavenge for food and are considered omnivores. Their legs allow them to up to 10 mph for an extended amount of time. They are mainly active at dawn and dusk. Jackals travel in small packs while they hunk alone or in pairs. African Elephant Chimpanzee Jackal Warthog Mongoose Decomposers -Abibjan is considered the "Paris of West Africa"

Transcript: SPANISH JUAN-0-JUAN POR and PARA Por and Para are prepositions. What's a preposition? A word that expresses the relationship between two different nouns, clauses, or elements of a sentence. Each have their own distinct and unique uses. So look out and make sure you use the right one so IB will be impressed and give you a gold star. What is an "por"? Por is a preposition that typically means 'by' or 'because of'. The por-pose of por is to usually display motives or indicate a cause for something. Por is also used in the construction of adverbs. Here is a list of some common ones. por cierto (by the way) por el contrario (on the contrary) por lo general (generally) por supuesto (of course) por otra parte (on the other hand) por fin (finally) por lo menos (at least) Wot in tarnation's a "para"? To avoid confusion with its sibling 'por', try not to think para as just the word for 'for'. Otherwise you will see yourself going in circles when making direct translations. Purpose and destination are a general good place to start when thinking of para. Para can be considered the end result of an action or goal to further simplify things. Para siempre - forever Para que - so that para donde - where to para ti - for you para qué - for what reason Exam tip: This is a really impractical use of a 'step-by-step' model to teach Spanish. POR Duration: (for) Exchange: (in exchange for, for) Substitution: (on behalf of, instead of, in place of) Movement: (through, by, along) Motivation: (due to, because of, for) Emotions: (the recipient of an emotion Means: (of Transportation, Communication Although this preposition has many uses, a good way to remember them all is through the acronym D.E.E.M.M.M.S. Hello, I am Hunter and am always watching PARA Destination Standard Opinion Purpose DR. PODS is here to quell your para fear! Deadline Recipient DR PODS DESTINATION DESTINATION Literal or figurative. The recipient of everything EXCEPT emotions (because who needs them?) RECIPIENT RECIPIENT The intention of doing something. A give away for its use is when you follow up immediately with a verb in the infinitive. PURPOSE PURPOSE To indicate a personal opinion. Usually you will use this at the begining of the sentences. You will see in the example later on for para in the case of an opinion. OPINION OPINION To indicate when a due date is or a point in time in the future. This one should be obvious because it's always used to show when our homework is due in this class. DEADLINE DEADLINE Express something that does not fit a standard or the every day 'norm' that we have accepted to be regular. STANDARD STANDARD Para Ejemplos ? ? ? Yo voy para nuestra escuela porque el gobierno me obliga. These are ejemplos of the use of Para (In case you couldn't tell from the title of this section?)
