Ava Lee: Favorite She is the main character of the book, she lost everything, her parents, her home, her friend, and even her face. She doesn't need a mirror to know how she looks like, she can see her reflection in the eyes of everyone around her. When a year has past when the fire occurred that destroyed her life, her Aunt & Uncle have decided she should go back to High School. She believes that she can't be normal again, that their is no "normal" like a person like herself. Quote Quote: Ava Lee: "This is why I don't need mirrors; I can see my reflection in the eyes of everyone around me, My face always finds me." Why? Why? This quote shows the true feelings of Ava in the beginning of the book, she said this when she was preparing to so to school with her aunt Cara. For me this quote means a lot because I had that time when people didn't accept different people like Ava she has a burned face and that makes her feel different because people see her different and that is not right she sees the reactions of people's faces and she thinks of her self as a "not normal person". Also she is not afraid to admit that she is feeling "not normal" and says this to her aunt that makes me think of her as a brave person. This is the book, I mainly think that this book will teach young people about the difficulties that other people are going through like the people with disabilities. Many people judge and point to those that are different and this book is a life changing path which is good thing for all people. Cover Recommendation? Inside The book This book I would say that is the best book I have ever read and I'm a person who doesn't even read, but when I read the first chapter of this book it got my attention, actually it wasn't the first chapter it was the description of the inside book. So I would recommend this book to friend or a class because it spoke to me and I want this book to influence other people as well and I think that The author of this novel wanted her book to be a influence. Beginning: Beginning In the beginning of the book Ava Lee is at the hospital with her Aunt Cora the doctor is about to take off her rap out of her face and the doctor tells her that she no longer needs a mask to cover her half face burn, then Ava starts to tell them that she needs the mask , that she feels weird without it. Then Aunt Cora comes and tells her that it is time for her to start school then she agrees for only 10 days of school, this whole year she was home school. Middle: Middle In the middle of the book Ava Lee is at school and she starts to chat with Piper, well Piper begins to be a great influence on Ava,through out the book Ava learns something from Piper that Piper is the same as Ava because Piper had a difficult time same as Ava, and the more Ava learned from her she became closer to her and defended her from bullies at school, Piper was the first person she talked to ever since the fire incident. Although Ava still seems as an outcast, "not normal yet". Middle (Part 2): Middle (Part 2) Then when Ava felt an empty space in her she thought she would never be "normal" again, but then she meets Asad, who pulls her back into the theater which for Ava it was her love before the accident, and together they coax Ava into auditioning for the school play and letting her talents shine. Piper and Asad had a good spirit for Ava to be her old self again. End: Ending In the Ava is about to go on stage where she finally realizes the people are with her and she remembers the accident and sees lights appearing and it is Piper, Asad and her Uncle Glenn and Aunt Cora in the audience, Ava sees these lights as a way out to the real world and sees as a way to be, "Normal" again, saying she is ready to be her self again and takes a few breaths and closes her eyes and starts to sing. Setting More The setting that takes mostly in this book is at the High School of Ava because Ava in the beginning of the book she was home schooled and through out the book it was taken place mostly in the High School, & also that is where Ava Lee started her journey to find herself again. Importance in Setting: Importance The importance in the setting in the High School is that, that it was the first place that Ava started to feel something since the accident, & also started to do things that she didn't even know what she can even do on her own . This setting is where she met Piper and Asad the two people that showed her the way in becoming herself again, this shows a lot about the main character Ava Lee. What was Learned: Learned What I learned is that being different or make yourself think you are a monster is unreal that you should think of yourself as a
