He had nowhere to go. Robert found himself with nowhere to turn we empower them to make positive changes in their lives Since accessing support Robert has.. How we help with your support.. If it wasn't for Stonepillow! Access to our StonePillow Hostel gave him the support he needed with a project worker. We are providing the crucial step on the ladder for homeless people through our hubs, hostels, supported accommodation and experienced team. He became desperate but determined to better himself and overcome his addiction... 108 of these clients are now off of the streets Robert was given shelter, support and information at our Chichester Hub. Example Image We have the experience and expertise to help homeless and vulnerable people Unfortunately he took another fall... Robert is 57 years old and has spent most of his life living on the streets or with his elderly Mother. He had a physical addiction to alcohol and consumed cannabis on a daily basis. He also suffers from epilepsy. Help Us Bring Hope After again being admitted to hospital, he was again discharged with nowhere to go.. This can only be achieved with your support we provide the light at the end of a dark and e lonely tunnel for our clients.. He attends our recovery and life skills workshops on budgeting, health and housing, and has weekly appointments with local substance misuse services. 208 homeless people accessed our services last year to better themselves. Transcript: BY: Shante + Sohpia + Alicja + Rita Youth Empowerment: Building Community Support ABOUT SUMMARY Many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer-identified (LGBTQ) youth face discrimination and isolation fostered by their own social systems that serve them in their daily lives. What drives us WHAT DRIVES US Molly Latham (n.d.), professor at University of Nevada, states that “young people who get involved in their communities are more likely to have stronger work ethic, do well in school, and develop leadership skills”. THE IMPACT Impact The purpose of this group is to get the LGBTQ youth active within their community, such aiding towards helping them to feel connected than excluded around their peers, creating a source of inspiration and connection to what the community can offer, and finding a way to fulfill a need of purpose in life. DIVING DEEPER DIVING DEEPER A study showed that, “40% of youth who reported feeling sad or hopeless in their social enviroment, compared to 26% of heterosexual youth” (District of Columbia Public Schools, 2007) LGBT YOUTH Statistics Why Get Involved? Participating in community activities gives more opportunities to become an independent and successful adult It provides a group of friends who can help a teen learn more about themself and his taents and help him make better decisions By connecting with the community, a teen is never alone.
