Transcript: Company Issued Guidance PUSH Presentation Introduction Technology Sector - Analyst Ianina Samira Sagum - Importance of Guidance - CIG Process (Validations Team) - CIG cases/samples Scope of the Topic Importance of Guidance It is an information a company provides as an indication or estimate of its future earnings. What is Guidance? It serves an important role in the investment decision-making process. This perspective is important because management knows its business better than anyone else and has more information on which to base its expectations than any number of analysts. Advantages Management teams use guidance to sway investors. In bull markets, some companies have given optimistic forecasts when the market wants momentum stocks with fast-growing earnings per share (EPS). In bear markets, companies have tried to lower expectations so that they can "beat the number" during earnings season. Disadvantages Analysts often use guidance as a reference point from which to build their forecasts. Without this anchor, the range of analysts' estimates will be wider, producing larger variances from actual results. Significance CIG Process (Validations Team) - Exclude estimates only if they are neither confirmed nor revised - Exclude estimates only for the period and measure for which there is guidance. - Use the filter after 3 business days and email broker. Footnote N CIG Cases/Samples - If estimate (post) is outside the given range but following majority basis, refrain from using footnote N. Cases and Samples - There are cases where company guidance is available but CIG team cannot update the guidance since the company does not have guidance coverage. - Updated guidance can be changed upon request if it is not following majority basis. - Updated guidance can be deleted upon request if it is not comparable with the consensus. Q&A Questions? END Thank You!

Our group had two outliers (the only two of the class) because the data we collected consisted of 0,1, and 5 while the 0 and the 1 were both outliers. Probability for more than 16 pushpins. As you can see the average has now increased after we eliminated our outliers however the standard deviation and the variance bot decreased from doing this. This results in an average streaming further away from the expected average calculated. Brianna: Z=1-24.93/10.91 Z= 1.4% Dana: Z=5-24.93/10.91 Z= 3.4% McKenzie: Z=0-24.93/10.91 Z=1.11% Z Score Data *comparing our data to the class data Once we removed the o and the 1 we found that the new average came out to 26.57. The variance would change to 83.29.Lastly, the new standard deviation would be 9.13. Group Outliers z= x-μ/σ Outliers Class Data P(17) + P(18) + P(19) + P(20)= P more than 16 = 0.0000000000403 Removing Outliers Average: 24.9375 The expected average should be between 16 and 17 successes, therefore the class data is a lot higher than what would be expected of it. There were two outliers shown through the boxplot showing up as 0, and 1. 1-20 Pushpins Probability Class data Boxplot Push Pin Experiment

Push Pin

Transcript: Technology of the Push Pin The push pin is related to science by they way the scientists figure out what material to make the push pin out of and how to get the push pins to stay in the wall. How The Push Pin is Used Today -The push pin shouldn't be used for heavier items such as heavy pictures or photos with glass *The picture may slip and fall The push pin is a thumbtack with a spherical head of colored plastic, used to fasten papers to a bulletin board or to indicate positions on charts and maps. How the Push Pin Was Originally Used Different types of Push Pins What is the Push Pin? Today, the push pin is used as a tack for attaching papers to a bulletin board or drawing board. There are many different types of push pins. Some are thumbtacks, wall clips, drawing pins and map push pins. They all have the same use and help in the same way, but may look different. The technology behind the push pin is how to keep the pin in the wall. http://invent.answers.com/clothing/the-invention-of-the-push-pin-and-its-usages-today http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-push-pin.htm http://inventors.about.com/od/pstartinventions/a/Push_Pin.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_pin http://www.push-pin.com/history http://www.google.it/patents/US1120656 Push Pin Disadvantages The push pin was orginally used as a pin used to fasten items to a wall or board for display and to be inserted by hand, generally without the assistance of tools. The push pin, also known as a thumbtack or drawing pin, was created by Edwin Moore in 1900. Moore founded a new company, called the Moore Push Pin Company, with only $112.60. Later, in 1904, German clockmaker Johann Kirsten invented flat-headed thumb tacks for use with drawings. The mathematics of the push pin is determining its size and shape. Katie Lynch The plastic "handle" of the push pin not only makes the pins easy to push into a bulletin board or wall, but aslo easy to remove. The push pin is ideal for hanging light weight items on walls and for pinning items to a surface.
