E What are Graphic Organziers? "Graphic organizers guide learners’ thinking as they fill in and build upon a visual map or diagram. Graphic organizers are some of the most effective visual learning strategies for students and are applied across the curriculum to enhance learning and understanding of subject matter content ("Teaching and learning with graphic organizer," 2017)." C How are Graphic Organizers Used? Graphic organizers are a wonderful tool that can support students as they organize their thoughts, create a writing plan, use to support understanding of text, as well as vocabulary acquisition. Word Recognition "To help children map the relations between letters and sounds, effective phonics and word-recognition strategy instruction should provide them with opportunities to become comfortable with a number of aspects of reading, including alphabetic knowledge, phonemic awareness, sound-symbol relations, word-identification strategies, spelling and writing connections, related reading practice, and reading fluency (Chard & Osborn, n.d.)." Fern convinced her family to let her keep him. Fern takes care of Wilbur everyday. She then has to sell him to Homer. Wilbur becomes friends with Charlotte, the spider. Charlotte promises to keep Wilbur safe from being slaughtered. Charlote writes messages on her web that describes Wilbur. Wilbur becomes a famous pig, and is not slaughtered! Frayer Model Categorizing Organizer B Conclusion Graphic organziers are a great tool to use in all content areas. Graphic organizers are way for students to think, communcate thoughts and ideas. This tool is a great visual for students to apply their knowledge, or use as a reference. Transcript: Crash Conflict Conflict: Crash and Penn are in the Penn Relays together and they are both equally fast. My Conflict Internal Or External Conflict? It's an external conflict because it involves more than one person. What did it cause to happen in the story? Crash felt good for helping Penn, and Penn's great grandfather was very proud of him. Characters Characters: WHat is the name of your character? Crash Coogan What type of character is this person? Protagonist (He is the main character) Round (I know alot about him) Dynamic (Crash changes alot in the story) WHat is a personality trait for your character? WHy do you choose this trait? Crash Is strong. I know this because in the story, he scored the most touchdowns on his team. Can you relate to this character? I cannot relate to Crash because I am not strong or a football player. Summarizing Summarizing: I did a summary of the climax, falling action, and the resolution of the story. In the climax of the story, Crash and Penn have to race in the Penn relays together. Crash helps Penn win by telling him to Lean. Then in the falling action, Crash had mixed feelings about how he helped Penn win the relays. Then Crash and his mom found Scooter walking around without his Kane. Finally, In the resolution, Crash realized that he changed for the better. And Jane Forbes forgave Crash for being a jerk. Lastly, Crash and Penn became best friends! Vocabulary Vocabulary: What is your word? Sideline What is the definition of your word? Either of the two lines bounding the longer sides of a football field, volleyball court, etc. How would you use this word in a sentence when speaking to a friend? The author believes that its hard to survive middle school. Explain what happens in the story to make you believe this is the message. At school, Crash and Mike bully Penn. The Penn Relays are very stressful.
