Transcript: Cupcake 1 - Flowery cupcake My task here was to decorate 3 cupcakes styles using a choice of buttercream and fluffy white frosting. Various decorating techniques of my own choice were incorporated. You have the choice to add sprinkles and other decorations to enhace each cupcake. I baked and iced 3 cupcakes styles - 1. flowery cupcake 2. star tip cupcake 3. shell tip cupcake Light (lowest presure), medium hard (highest pressure) (Top to bottom) Laila Thompson The star tip Spread buttercream evenly around top surface of the cupcake using a butter knife Cupcake 3 - shell tip swirl Cake decorating techniques - Pressure Introduction to task and cupcake decoration The leaves Frosting Color Cupcake Decorating Presentation Thanks for watching Icing techniques used in cupcake #2 -Curving Line in Blue (Tip #18, Piping bag held at 45°); Squeeze piping bag with medium pressure in direction of preference (wavy). White buttercream background Piping using a shell tip Frosting Base Using Different pressure levels for icing a cake will provide different results - in post cases, higher pressure creates a thicker line/result. -the color I added to the marshmallow fluff frosting is blue. the color I added to the butter cream frosting is pink. -Swirl drop flower in pink, Sqeeze extremely small amount of buttercream with light pressure out of the piping bag, quickly twist while still squeezing piping bag gently. To create the leaf, use tip #68 and it will make a leaf. Icing techniques used for cupcake #3 Icing techniques used in cupcake #1 Spread buttercream evenly around top surface of the cupcake using a butter knife Tip #18,Squeeze quickly with high pressure at the start, then decrease in pressure quite quickly so a tip is formed for the shell. to create a shell swirl cupcake use tip #31 on the icing bag, fill bag with icing then using meduim pressure squeeze the icing in a circular motion starting from the outside in. White buttercream background Tip #18, Pipe a tight swirl starting from the centre and working way outwards with medium pressure. -Leaf in green{~Tip #68~} Have the tip like a bird's beak so that one part of the tip faces up, with the other facing down. Squeeze piping bag quickly with high pressure and then release and pull away to form the tip of the leaf. Shells Cupcake 2 - star tip cucakes flowery style :

Transcript: 1. Draft a recipe 2. Research the technique 3. Bake a "template" - I don't call the first run a cupcake so the kids aren't too disappointed when they don't come out correctly 4. Compare the template to baked mix, then compose an adjustment theory 5. Adjust recipes and compare against ratios* 6. Students bake 1st cupcake 7. Repeat steps 4 through 6, if necessary 8. And bake again 9. And again 10. And again. Essentially I look for a ratio of 4 blank (un-iced cakes), 2 blank icings, and 2 wholly prepared dishes for regionals; 9/5/2 for state; and 15/8/6 for nationals. * * My students are instructed to practice piping their icing after they make it. Roughly, 30 minutes is allocated for construction, and 1.5 hrs is allocated for piping practice If they advance to a nationals level competition in cupcake, they should have baked a total of 38 dz cupcakes, prepared 15 batches of icing, and iced 10 dz cupcakes, minimum. By this point, your students should have covered For the Pina-Colada Cupcake, the theme was Island/Tropical After the kids have picked some cupcake ideas that have fit the theme, they research ingredients, technique (if applicable) and cupcakes similar to their idea using sites like Pinterest, Tumblr, and Youtube. The idea is that they originate a cupcake idea, not steal someone else's. "Everyone wants to be the Titanic, but no one wants to be the iceberg. Well, we know how well that turned out..." conceptual baking quick breads cookies pies icing and baked a boxed cake mix Briefly searched from keywords: "cupcake asian" Objective: To examine the various stages of preparation for cupcake battle and identify winning strategies Don't go healthy If you go savory, make it worth it Gimmicks are meant to sell cars and get first dates, not win competitions* Remember that the only reason everyone wants to be the Titanic is because the Titanic looked good* Don't focus too much on appearance (even for a clean technique)* Vary your technique and texture No cake or frosting really wins more than others, except for fondant Judges really look at just the cupcake and frosting The Silver (Tinfoil) Lining: Obtaining a Cupcake Battle Victory Other Stuff to Help You Win Building the perfect cupcake Choose theme or concept for design

You should always use a flat surface to crack an egg rather than the edge of a counter or bowl because there is less likelihood that bits of the shell will go into the egg itself. 4. If the egg's side has not completely ruptured place your two thumbs in the cracked dent and pull apart. 5. Empty egg into a bowl or similar container before it hits the table. 6. Transcript: production cost and profit P(x)= revenue - production cost P(x) =(-28.19x^2 + 54.22x) - (-2.819x+5.422) P(x)=-28.19x2+57.039x-5.422 Quantity and Revenue Moving on to data collection what my revenue and quantity was Intro My group and I were curious what would it be like to have an actual bake sell and how much money we would actually make from selling cupcakes . it also will allow me to put my new math skills to the test.Within this letter you will find the math, calculations, graphs ,and data that my group used to find maximum profit of selling cupcakes at the freshman football game. we also made a survey primarily on middle school students because they will be the ones watching the football game and not playing. We collected data from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Here is the data that we collected Quantity equation: Q(x)= -28.19x+54.22 box, and we are going to use these calculations to make approximately 100.We first multiplied four times 2.50 then divided it by 100 and it came out to be 10¢ per cupcake. Production Cost: Production cost is the amount of money spent to make or produce the item, C(x). However, this function comes from the quantity function multiplied by the cost per item. C(x)= (-28.19x+54.22) (.10) C(x)= -2.819x+ 5.422 Cost Per Item(Cost Per Cupcake)= 10 cents This means that we are going to buy four boxes of cupcake mix that cost $2.50 for each Survey on middle school students My Cupcake Presentation Revenue equation: R(x)= -28.19x2+54.22x This means the amount of money you bring in R(x). We found our revenue equation by using our class knowledge and plugging the numbers we have to the equation we learned in class: R(x)=Q(x)(x) . We used this equation because revenue is the quantity multiplied by the price you are selling the item for. We created a survey to determine the price we should sell the cupcakes for to 6th through 8th graders. We surveyed one class for each grade. The table above shows the data we collected. On the left side of our chart, all of the possible prices to bake our cupcakes to sell is placed. On the right side of the table, there is the quantity( amount) of people who would buy the cupcakes based on the the prices on the right side. In total we surveyed 57 students. Here we see on revenue graph how much revenue we will make at a certain price of selling the cupcakes on the x-axis is the amount of money each cupcake would be sold for and on the y-axis how much revenue we would make for selling them at each of these prices In our quantity function you will see that on the x-axis are the prices and in the y-axis is the quantity of cupcakes that will be sold at each price. This is important so that we can begin to see what is a good amount of cupcakes to sell and what price to sell them at to make a good amount of profit
