WIRELESS NETWORK

Transcript: Convenient - The wireless network allows users to access network resources from nearly any convenient location within their primary networking environment. Mobility - Users can access the internet even outside their normal work environment. Productivity - Users connected to a wireless network can maintain a nearly constant connection with their desired network as they move from place to place. Expandability - Wireless networks can serve a suddenly increased number of clients with the existing equipment. In a wired network, additional clients would require additional wiring. Advantages of Wireless Connection My service provider: Rogers Modem model: CGN2-ROG. Wireless Speed: 5.13 mbps (megabits per second) Peripheral devices connected: Keyboard, mouse, printer, CPU, monitor, scanner, speakers, microphone, and camera. WIRELESS NETWORK Home Network Both the websites have firewalls and https, that secures their system. Also, the transaction for both of them is pretty simple and easy. TD Bank's IP Address - 142.205.241.254 Amazon's IP Address - 72.21.214.200 Security System of Td-bank and Amazon Security - Wired network provides more security compared to wireless. This means that all of your private data stored could be exposed to anyone. It's possible for someone to easily get your passwords and important personal information. Range - The range is limited. It may be slower depending how far your device is. Speed - The wireless connection will be slightly slower than the wired connection. Disadvantages of Wireless Connection

Transcript: Nuria Álvarez-Palencia Alarcón 4ºC Wi-Fi Wifi is a mechanism for connecting electronic devices wirelessly. Devices enabled with Wi-Fi, they can connect to the Internet through an access point wireless network. Wi-Fi is a mark of Wifi Alliance, the trade organization that adopts, tests and verified that hardware meets the standards 802.11 related to wireless local area networks. - Bluetooth This technology is based on light rays moving in the infrared spectrum. It enables bidirectional communication between two extremes. A wireless personal area network is a network for interconnecting devices in a few meters, and which the connections are wireless. The three kinds of wireless are Bluetooth, Infrared Data Association and Wi-Fi. Wireless Wide Area Network Wireless Network The wireless wide area networks (WWAN) have the widest reach of all wireless networks. For this reason, all mobile phones are connected to a wide area wireless network. The main technologies are: GSM, GPRS and UMTS. Nuria Álvarez-Palencia Alarcón 4ºC Bibliography For metropolitan area networks are based on WiMAX technology, a wireless communication standard based on IEEE 802.16. WiMAX is a protocol like Wi-Fi, but with more coverage and bandwidth. We can also find other communication systems such as LMDS. - Wireless Personal Area Network * Bluetooth * Infrared Data Association * Wi-Fi - Wireless Local Area Network - Wireless Metropolitan Area Network - Wireless Wide Area Network - Bibliography Wireless Local Area Network http://es.kioskea.net/contents/wireless/wwan.php3 http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_inal%C3%A1mbrica http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_inal%C3%A1mbrica#Wireless_Personal_Area_Network http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_inal%C3%A1mbrica#Wireless_Local_Area_Network http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_inal%C3%A1mbrica#Wireless_Metropolitan_Area_Network http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_inal%C3%A1mbrica#Wireless_Wide_Area_Network Infrared Data Association Bluetooth is an industrial specification for Wireless Personal Area Networks that enables the transmission of voice and data between devices with a link by radiofrequency. Wireless Personal Area Network A wireless local area network, also known as WLAN is a flexible wireless communication system, very used as an alternative to wired LANs or as extension thereof. They use radio frequency technology that allows greater mobility to users by minimizing wired connections. Wireless Metropolitan Area Network THE END Index

Transcript: Thank you for listening. Tablet PCs can not be connected to a physical network. They require a strong and robust wireless network. We need to be ready for the change! Our Existing Wireless Network Full site survey by professional wireless architects. Full site deployment to maximise impact and minimise incompatibility. Installation would include a service contract that would allow us to troubleshoot problems quickly. This year, for the first time, the sales of IOS devices have overtaken traditional PC sales. The computing landscape is changing! Why we need a wireless network by Chris Furniss (A+, N+) & Michael Oakshott (BSc, A+,N+, MCP) What will a new network will give us? 6 years old, (other technologies are replaced on a 4 year rolling program). 2 wireless standards behind. Does not support new technologies (e.g wireless projectors, airplay & screen mirroring). Unreliable. Negatively impacting teaching & learning. Increased speed; Faster logons, less time wasted in lessons. Increased capacity; More students can use the wireless at once. Reliability; Each access point contains a virtual controller. If one access point breaks, the virtual controller will move to the next available access point. Scalability; Would support BYOD or a 1 to 1 deployment in the future. It means that there is a shift in paradigm occurring. People are moving away from the tradition PC setup and embracing the tablet as their preferred computing platform. "Wireless technology is rapidly becoming the 'norm' in the IT world, rather than an optional extra" cont. What does this have to do with wireless? Our Plan Over the last 4 years we have bought: 221 Student Laptops (£88,000) 100 Staff Laptops (£40,000) 20 Ipads (£6000) 10 Tablet PCs (£2000) Emerge Licences (£1,189) A total of £225,989 spent on equipment that requires a wireless network. Mobility: The access points are smart. They will assign users to the best access point that suits them. They will also force 'sticky' devices to change access points when required. Guest network: A wireless network just for guest use. All access points come with lifetime warranty. Wireless Network Presentation Return on Investment What does this mean?
