Cons Short life span More vunerable to screen burn in LCD has higher resolution than a Plasma Has a poor reproduction of color black, black often comes out as shades of gray. Plasma monitors are heavy Uses more electricity than an LCD It contains a shadow mask which is a thin metal screen filled with many holes It contains an aperture grill which contains tiny vertical lines that helps illuminate the phosphor of the faceplate.This added on feature may be more expensive. The first monitor ever built was in 1926, it was used as a television for entertaining purposes. The first of his kind. Now a days we do not use the CRT since they are becoming outdated. Health Concerns: Ionizing radiation, Toxicity, Flicker, High-frequency, audible noise and Implosion. Pros Can display in almost any resolution. Sub-millisecond response times. Allows the use of light guns/pens. Cons: High power consumption Large size and weight Generates a considerable amount of heat when running Can be wall mounted. Plasma Monitors through the years Use more electricity than LCDs. Slim. Not all LCDs are designed to allow easy replacement of the backlight. Good picture quality. Less expensive. Flat panel. Cons: Limited size. Do not emit light directly. Portable, light-weight. CRT Liquid Crystal Display LCD Wider range of screen sizes CRT and plasma displays.
