Transcript: Why are we better? User reviews become more important as more of them are accumulated FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY How It Works (Non-Technical) FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY The Monster Score algorithm is based off of two factors: user views, and user applies. These categories of information are stratified by user (this is a key part of the algorithm) and are what form the core of the algorithm. At its simplest Monster Score can be broken down like so: User data is stratified into the format: <USER ID> | <LIST OF COMPANIES APPLIED> | <LIST OF COMPANIES VIEWED> This is a key part of the algorithm because it ensures that "like is compared to like", and because it allows for further stratification in the future by seeker (user) profiles. (ie: Monster Scores for Technology employees, Healthcare, People who live in europe, etc...) Next the scoring is broken up into three cases: 1) The user views the company and applies to it, this is considered a "victory" for the company in this rating system 2) The user views the company and does not apply to it, this is considered a "loss" for the company in this rating system 3) The user views the same company multiple times but does not apply, this is a new condition that I would call a "partial victory" as viewing a company multiple times can indicate increased interest in the company, but not as much as actually clicking the apply button. Companies that are applied to receive an increase to their score, while companies that are viewed but not applied to receive a decrease in their score. Companies with many views from the same user receive a smaller increase to their score. These changes are proportional to the current rating, ratings deviation, and volatility of both companies. One important thing to note regarding the Monster Score algorithm is that because of they way it was designed, large companies can go toe-to-toe with smaller companies and visa-versa fairly. Filtering based off of seeker profiles -> Different scores for each and every category of user on monster.com Company Recommendations based off of the monster score with filtering -> ex: User112231 is 78% likely to apply to company A instead of Company B because Company A has a higher Monster Score for the user than Company B Improve search results by giving preference to companies that have higher monster scores for specific users. This would have to be done carefully to avoid future bias in the Monster score algorithm, companies with high rankings could be given preference with lower ranked companies cycled in occasionally when it is calculated they have the greatest chance of receiving an apply, based off of the seeker profile. FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY The data that was generated via the Monster Score algorithm was validated using several methods. The first method employed was to simply select random companies from the results file, and manually validate that companies were being rated correctly. After validating that the algorithm was producing results somewhat correctly, I created a frequency distribution of all the ratings that I had calculated (Roughly 47000 companies and 290,000 users). I knew beforehand that in an ideal world the distribution would be roughly normal, so seeing this result helped confirm the validity of the algorithm. FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY What is Monster Score? Monster score is a rating system based upon the Glicko-2 Rating system, with many modifications to it. What is the goal of Monster Score? The goal of Monster Score is to provide a comprehensive ranking system for companies that measures the competitive performance of each company in the job marketplace, while removing as much bias as possible. What is the benefit to users and our customers? Users seek an unbiased source of information on the internet when searching for a new job, and since Monster Score is based off of raw data from views and applies, user bias is not factored into the scoring system at all. Our customers gain an incredibly powerful analytical tool that can track the performance of their company in the overall job market over time, as well as gain information on where they are losing potential applicants to, the demographics of lost potential applicants, and many other potential applications. FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY Why are we better? We can see here that the distribution appears to be roughly normal, with two key outliers. One outlier is companies with the default (or near default) score of 1500, and one is companies with the maximum possible score. The spike of companies with the default rating occurred because we had a limited data set, in which some companies did not get many user views or applies. The spike of companies with the max rating happened because an artificial cap was placed at 3000, preventing a company from going beyond that. I believe that

Assumptions were made that this capability will he highly useful based on my vision and how the data may have been Data should be collected both before developing the capability and after not only to validate the success of it but also to understand how users are consuming this information Before Metrics for validation of success Engagement rate User acquisition rate User attrition rate Satisfaction (NPS) score Metrics for guiding design decisions % of users with linked investments, loans, goals setup % of users consuming the blog content; % of those users with accounts SEO queries before landing on website Before After Validation metrics should be evaluated - is there an increase? Additionally, other data points should be monitored % of users consuming the advice - clicks, scrolling, attention % of clicks on affiliate links; subsequent revenue from those ad placements % of users acquired after reading use-cases of the new capabilities SEO rankings due to the new content Traffic due to the potential improvement in SEO rankings Average time on pages After Discussion Thank You
