Light Rail
Transcript: By: Sthefany Hoyos Light Rail A Introduction My experiece on the light rail was unique, I saw places, people, and things that were unsual to me, however it seemed natural to others. In the course, we encouter people who ride the light rail in a daily basis, to either avoid traffic, or because it is closer to work or school. We also met a toursit from Tennessee she really dislikes Houston traffic. On the trajectory, we saw the pretty and the ugly of the north area where the rail goes. The pretty had the restaurants, bars, the city. Nonetheless the ugly had the reality that is unkown to us. We saw the poor, the broken, the rawness of 3rd ward. C What is the impact of community transportation? community transportation can affect communities in many ways. It can affect the quaility of the environment experienced by those who live, work or visit the area. in other words the noises, views, walking environments, and the land usage. Benefits Who does it benefit? It benefits, those who have the means to use the light rail, the students going to UHD or HCC. Those who work on the are, and those who would rather use a park and ride to avoid traffic. Who is excluded? I believe public transportation it is there to serve those who need it and no one is excluded, however not everyone can afford to spend $1.50 to ride the rail. Therefore, not everyone can ride it. Resources • What are the major resources accessible by train? Why does it matter what things are accessible? In our route, we encounter 5 green spaces, 10 places of necessity such as clinics, general stores, and food stores. It matters to have access to daily necesities because without them people would be prevented of obtaining bacis needs. Most communities have green places that are for recreational purposes such as parks and community pools. accesible to those with and without money. Any community needs access to food stores because it would be really stressful for those who walk from one place to another to obtain their nutrients. The Conclusion B Overall having community transportation is very crucial for those who might not have the means of obtaining a vehicle to get to places . • What might it mean to children who have to take the train? usually at a young age it is hard for children to understand the circumstances. However riding the train can open their eyes to all types of communities and people around them • Are there family-type of resources that children can access via the train? Can they actually access them? Yes, there are clinics, food stores, and playgrounds for children. and are accesible for all • What are the benefits / drawbacks of the train for your relationship with students? it is beneficial because it will hepl them get to school, however the people they encouter or situations might not always be the pretties or most educational for a child. It might be different to what I grew up with but i must place myself in ther shoes in order to understand them better and be a great eduacator for them.
