Road Construction

Transcript: news.nationalgeographic.com Better roads building paves way for energy saving www.ecologyandsociety.org Effects of roads on animal abundance how humans alter the balance of ecosystems using road construction: Use Energy saving concrete Don't preform construction on more then one road in a community at one time. These are all examples of road construction They also make an environmental impact because Road Construction causes traffic. And change to the ecosystem. Because it is a either going to have a lot of traffic, stay the same, or have very little traffic, due to the amount of accidents there is. Random Information Positive And Negative effects Negative Effects Examples/pictures MORE RESOURCES Road Construction edited by: Mackenzie Glass Road Construction Positive and Negative effects www.michigan.gov MDOTS major road project www.sbsg.com Concrete FAQS . Humans alter the balance of the ecosystem because they are tearing a part the ecosystem and animal homes and food. For Example-- in the picture above although you cant see it, there are many (biotic)animals in this picture that are dying from these harsh chemicals. This leads to habitat destruction. And to resource depletion. Cement is made up of chemicals Road Construction can lead to extinction for some animals because the harsh chemicals that the animals could eat thinking it was food. and can lead to habitat loss because when the construction workers aretearing apart he road it could take not only the animals/insects homes it could take th animals life. Road construction could also lead to Environmental impact in a negative way because it is putting pollution in the air due to the trucks and equipment. Cement holdsd sand and gravel together in concrete it takes 2-3 hours for concrete to harden(depending on temperature) www.sbsg.com Concrete FAQS Small Birds will not be effected roads will be safer when construction is done. Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Road Construction

Transcript: Not a day of work goes by when I don't hear at least one person complaining about the line of potholes on the road that all of us take to get to our job. Not only us, though, but everyone in this community. This is the main road to get to Hampton Beaches, yet it is still lined with deep and hazardous pot holes. Road Construction What we can do to address this issue is talk to the head of the contstruction corporations and government officials about the immediate need for road work on these back roads rather than repaving busier roads that are in fine condition. Others can help spread the word and speak their mind about what needs to be done. The only real perspective on addressing this problem is speaking to whomever is in charge to make change happen. Thank You & The End! Each possible solution does meet my criteria because the issues of the dangerous roads that are not getting the attention they need will be fixed. The best option out of all possible solutions is to talk to the highest person in charge of major roadway construction and use evidence that will allow them to realize how necessary this issue needs to be fixed. Hanna Gootee Criteria and Possible Solutions Circular Flow - Affects Defining the Problem Analysis At the household level, there are problems that are brought about with family carpooling and getting children to the places they need to be using the safest route and fastest. At the government level the gov. officials are risking being sued and making un-mindful decisions with their construction on the roads. The positive points of this are having the construction companies make more money and the suppliers especially making more money. They will help as well at the product market because there will be more trucks with their company names on them which aren't usually in the area which will help them with business. Again though, with this construction, the businesses in the area are risking less customers because of difficulty getting to their stores. Each possible solution has many options in which the end result could look like but the most basic and most efficient option really only results in the positives in which I have previously mentioned. Driving through my small town, I see road construction going on everywhere I go. There's always a road being paved, or widened, or a new highway being built...but I, like many others, prefer taking the back-roads that are less busy over the big highways. How come, though, do I never see construction taking place on these back roads when they are in the worst condition out of all of them? My focus on this project is to make sure our road construciton is happening on the roads in the worst condition that need it the most. Consider All Possible Solutions or Alternatives This affects local residents and households because in order to get to very popular places around here such as the beach, people must drive these roads and the potholes can severely damage their cars. This affects buisness in the area because it is the main road to many local buisness and it can not only turn people away from going there but it can also cause customers to blame these road conditions on the businesses. This can affect our government at all levels because the government is funding for this road work and when peoples cars become damaged from it they are the rightfully ones who are at blame and could risk getting sued. This affects international trade because if people want to trade with us but come here and could risk ruining their cars just by getting here, they may not even bother to trade with us and begin to fin new business to work with. It affects resources, goods and services, and finances because once this problem does begin to get fixed, it will take a while because the government has put off this road work for so long so the construcion will take a while to get the problem fixed and customers won't be able to get to these businesses. The challenges that are implementing each solution is that it will be a lot harder and longer of a process for the workers because it's not simply just paving the road but also taking care of the damage, too. You might judge possible solutions against each other by weighing out ones costs and benefits such as taking a longer time but improving many hazards. My parents and other people in this community agree that this is a ridiculous problem that is being avoided for less-necessary problems. It's Affect on My Community Continued... Necessary conditions for any possible solution to work is to have the people constructing these roads know what is around them and where vehicles are coming from. The only budget and labor concerns would be the cost of all of the damages that are happening due to these hazardous roads. As for the actual construction though, it won't cost any more than all the construction workers are doing on other roads that aren't in as severe conditions. The public definitely needs to be aware of the solution so they
