The president has to be 35 years old, a natural born citizen, and had to live in the USA for 14 years. The executive branch of government is led by the President of the United States. He is also the Commander-n-chief of the armed forces, and enforces laws written by congress. There was a contest held to design the presidents hose the person who won received $500,000 prize the winner was James Hoban. The person who change the Executive Mansion to the White House. The White House burned twice once in 1814 also in 1929. The house was not renovated til Harry Truman was President. Dolly Madison saved the original Gilbert Steuart British was coming portrait. The president attend Saint Johns episcopan. Originally built for the state,war,and navy departments,this building is now the Eisenhower executive offices. The first foreign dignitary to stay at camp David was the British prime minister Winston Churchill. There are 2 oval offices in the White House. There are two air planes one of them is called the air force one the other one is called air Marine one. President Barack Obama is the 44th president but there have only been 43 people to be president. That is because President Clevlen served two nonconsecutive terms. The vice president live near the united states naval observatory Walter Mondale. The vice presidents job is to take over the presidency at a moments notice. It takes 570 gallons of paint to cover all of the walls in the White House. The white house sits on 18 acres of land in the district of Columbia White House Architectural changes Importance of the White House In 1902 Theodore Roosevelt began construction of the west wing which is where he planned to relocate the Oval Office President Howard finished the west wing and moved the presidential office to the Oval Office. 50 years after President Theodore Roosevelt renovated the White House its structure became weak. President Truman fixed the problem by dismantling everything but the outer walls of the White House. The renovation was overseen by Lorenzo Winslow. White House

It has survived fires at the hands of British in 1814. There are 132 rooms,35 bathrooms,and 6 levels in the residence. The White House grows it's own fruits and vegtables it also has it's own bees that make the White Houses own honey. The White House structure in the outside took 570 gallens of paint The White House was created by slaves. 400 out of 600 people that worked on the building were slaves. 50 where blacks that were free. The White House has a tennis court,swimming pool,movie theater,bowling alley,and a jogging track. The White House recieves 20,000 mails and emails every day. It's kitchen has 5 fulltime chef's and cook for for 140 guests. The chefs have to be really good at what they do or they get fired. I Learned the White House was not always white it used to be yellow. Somthing else I learned was that the White House had its own honey. The White House is a symbol of power. The White House also a symbol of peace and strength. I also learned Barock Obama was the US senator before he was president. I learned the white house only reads a small fraction of mails a day. i learned the White House was a building that tourist would come to see. The White House also represents respect and freedom.
