Being established in that year, Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United Sates. It is named Harvard after its benefactor, John Harvard, who gave this institution his library and half of his estate after his death. There's a statue of John Harvard in front of the University Hall. Harvard University Harvard University has 3 sororities: Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Delta Gamma; there are rumors about an additional sorority coming in the fall. It also has 3 fraternities: Sigma Chi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Despite their fraternities and sororities, Harvard is not considered a "party" school. Harvard has over 400 student organizations that deal with a variety of interests, from music to political groups. Only about 6% of applicants are admitted into Harvard.
