Transcript: Geography Sea of Cortez, The Carribian Sea, and Pacific Ocean surround Mexico. Mexico is near Belize, Guatemala, and United States. Located on the continent North America. Culinary The people mostly grow corn, but also grow beans, barley and fruits such as oranges, apples, and grapes. They have McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, and they even have places like Starbucks. In Mexico, they eat breakfast early around 6:00am. They eat lunch in the afternoon and they eat dinner around 8:00pm. Lunch is the most important meal in Mexico, and dinner is usually a lighter food such as tacos. Tacos start in a hard shell. You can put anything inside of a taco shell, but most people put in meat, cheese, and vegetables. Tacos can also be made in a soft wrap. Clothing In Mexico, the people wear clothes similar to European fashion. In the old Mexico, people used to wear Ponchos. Mexico is a very hot and humid place so people wear short and breathable clothing. Demographics Male literacy rate: 86.9% Female literacy rate: 85.3% Population below poverty line: 18.2% In Mexico, the main currency is Pesos. The population of Mexico is 112,336,538 people. Government Mexico has a democracy as a government. It has been in effect since 2000. The government runs where the people have a say in what changes are made to their government. They vote on issues and elect people into positions. So far the government is doing a good job, the only problem in the government is gangs and drugs. Traditional music is played in a band called Mariachi. In a Mariachi band, the musicians play instruments and sing about traditions and their lifestyles. He is known for his religious music. When he was young, he was a choir boy. He is also known as his part in the sacro (sacred nationalism) movement. Hernán Cortés Hernán Cortés was a Spanish Conquistador who led the exposition that ended the Aztec Empire. He also added land to Mexico. In 1519, he was elected captain of the third expedition to the mainland. Vicente Guerrero Vicente Guerrero was the second president of Mexico. He was born in Tixtla, a village in the sierra that furnishes a backdrop to Acapulco. He joined the rebellion in November 1810 and enlisted in a division that independence leader José Maria Morelos had organized to fight in the south. Holidays and Traditions Cinco de Mayo is celebrated on the 5th of May in Mexico and sometimes in the United States. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. A lot of people think that it is the Mexican form of the Fourth of July. The Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The celebration takes place on November 1. Tourist Attractions Los Cabos is a 20 mile beach area at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. It has white sandy beaches and is surrounded by resorts, restaurants, bars and other attractions. People travel to this location because it is a great place for water sports and has some of the best fishing in the world. Tulum is located on the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. It once was the Mayan city of Coba. The tropical beach backdrop however makes this a stunning top attraction. Teotihuacan was a civilization built on the flourishing metropolis of Teotihuacán and it’s huge pyramids. This is the largest pyramid in Teotihuacán and all of Mexico. What I Have Learned I have learned that Mexico has many different holidays and beautiful places. In Mexico, there is also many different foods to eat and activities to do. Mexico's government is a democracy, but they have a problem with drugs and gangs. The people in Mexico also wear similar clothes to the ones we wear in the U.S. The weather is hot and humid all year round. Rose water 1tblsp. Procedure 1.Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan, sprinkle garam masala, add shredded carrot & stir for few minutes(3/4 min), pour milk & cook till carrot gets soft, add shredded coconut, mix for 2/3 minutes, add sugar & stir continuously till it gets dissolved & mix milk pow for a minute or two. 2.Before leaving the heat, add rose wate, raisin, stir. 3.Halwa is done. 4.Garnish with nuts( pista, almond, kaju). 5.You can serve like this way but what i do is-grease one dish with a little ghee & spread the halwa evenly on the dish & cut into pieces.
