Australia's Christmas Australia Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere in the South Pacific ocean. Australia is the smallest continent in the world. Their primary language is Australian English. Christmas was introduced by the people of Great Britain in 1788 because of their culture being brought by settlements from Britain. In Australia they celebrate Christmas in the summer time, which changes they way they celebrate Christmas. For example, they don't wear ugly Christmas sweaters. Also, they like to BBQ a lot. And, instead of playing in the snow, they go to the beach. Find out more in these four bubbles. BBQ is very popular in Australia not just on Christmas. Another tradition is they like to play is Cricket. Aussies play cricket on the beach, the street, and on cricket courts. A festival they have in Australia is called Carols by Candlelight, which is a country-wide celebration. Aussies sing Christmas carols while holding candles. They gather in the street during the night. Aussies like to decorate like Americans but they add some Australian flare to it. For example, they put fake flamingos in their yard. They also make sandmen, which is a snowman made out of sand. Christmas Foods Australian Christmas Foods One thing Australians like to eat is BBQ. They'll eat BBQ shrimp, seafood, and much more. Beer is also a staple for Australian foods. They also like having a bowl of Cherries at the dinner table. They also have cheeses and dips. Sausage is also on the menu for dinner. And for desert, cake! If I had to make a meal for an Australian Christmas dinner, I would make a mean steak and shrimp drizzled with soy sauce. Christmas around the world

Transcript: Christmas in the world merry christmas- from teejizzle ;) Preparation for Christmas in the Congo begins when some group is designated to prepare the annual Christmas pageant. Christmas day begins with groups of carolers walking to and fro through the village, along the roadway, by the houses of the missionaries, singing the lovely carols known the world around. Often people may be awakened by a group of carolers beginning to converge on the house of worship. They return home to make final preparation as to the clothes one must wear and also as to his offering for the Christmas service. Costa Rica Japan Africa In Costa Rica, models of Christ's birthplace in a stable are so big that they fill the room Brazil America Only 1 per cent of Japanese people believe in Christ. Even so, most Japanese people decorate their stores and homes with evergreens during Christmas. They enjoy giving each other gifts, and this is the part they celebrate. Brazilians are a mix of different ethnic people, and as a former Portuguese colony, they have many Christmas customs which originate from this heritage. One tradition is to create a nativity scene or Presépio. The word originates from the Hebrew word "presepium" which means the bed of straw upon which Jesus first slept in Bethlehem. The Presépio is common in northeastern Brazil. Nowadays presépios are set up in December and displayed in churches, homes, and stores. Santa Claus was born in US in the 1860's he was named this as he had a white beard and a belly, so he was named Santa Claus as this was the Dutch word for St Nicholas, Sintaklaas. Although the Dutch had bought him with them in the 17th century, he did not become an important person at Christmas until the Novelist Washington Irving put him in a novel that he wrote in 1809. This first Santa Claus was still known as St. Nicholas, he did smoke a pipe, and fly around in a wagon without any reindeer, but he did not have his red suit or live at the North Pole, he did however bring presents to children every year
