In its own words, Scripture is breathed by God. It is living and active, accomplishing God’s purposes. It commands, instructs, encourages, teaches, reproofs, corrects, trains, judges, preaches, foresees, gives hope, and makes wise for salvation. And most importantly, it is about Jesus; all of it. Scripture Word 2 Timothy 3:15-17 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 6 functions of the Bible 1. Convict Sin 2. Correction and instruction 3. Spiritual Fruitfulness 4. Perseverance 5. Joy and delight 6. Ultimate Authority in doctrine and deed I would add that it creates faith within the hearer. 2 Peter 3:15-16 15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
