That's right - it is a task that can not be complete. Because of that at first it is crucial to find a topic that is a) interesting, b) can affect your professional development. Brainstorm Choosing type of sources What is the quality of report? Including spelling and grammar. Quality of the Theoretical Framwork Limit the sources Summarizing Decide what type of documents will be used: professional or scientific. How do you process the information? Quality of research questions and introduction Search method Evaluate different source of information, e.g. databases, search engines, etc. Identify advantages and drawbacks, select best source(s). Sometimes being pragmatical is what makes you finish the work. I believe that if one has no understanding of reason of his work, he will not fulfill his task properly. For this reason ask yourself: 'Why am I doing it? What is the ultimate goal?'. And once you find the point of working, you will be willing to do your best. Six Steps of Desk Research Step 3 The human brain can be compared to a machine, which uses some resources to get a useful output, in our case it is a research. Just like every apparatus our brain has energy conversion efficiency and the point of setting boundaries is to spend time on useful work, not just wasting it. Boundaries just tunnel our efforts. Which sources of information are suitable? How do you use and evaluate the information? If the source that was found is not scientific, e.g. wikipedia, however it has links to scientific articles, information from that source can be tracked to legit source of information, thus validated to be correct. Legit sources That's easy - you just need to do the same thing as with setting boundaries. Some information on topic may be too general, which makes it useless, but some, which is even worse, can be false and that will lead to realization that your research is not legit at all and everything should be redone. Both in text and the Reference list. It is essential to determine the range of sources of information in order to tunnel the searching efforts from the very beginning and avoid waste of time by browsing too many sources. Bibliography has to be done by using APA style correctly. Reference management software, like Zotero, can be used. Identification of needed info Step 4 Assessing text (CARS) Validation and tracking Search plan & logbook have to be filled in after critically reading and analyzing, reviewing and summarizing multiple sources. At this point of research a reporting type has to be chosen. It may be one of these: literature study, presentation, fact sheet, etc. All information can not be taken as truth for granted. Everything has to be proven to be correct. Once the subject and the reason are clear for you, you need to state the question that you want to find an answer to. Afterward, try to make the list of subquestions - by answering these you will get closer to understanding the main problem. Search plan & logbook Text from not scientific/academic articles has to be checked. It has to be Credible, Accurate, Reliable and Supported by legit information sources. It is necessary to use sources of information, which are legit , for example databases, libraries and encyclopedias. Where do you use correct information? Pre-research Problem of the research Reporting type Assessing the operation of search engines Boundaries Multiple sources have to be summarized, while avoiding plagiarism (APA citation). Research objective Get in touch with different search methods and choose the one (a few) which will be applied in the research. Also find some information on logical operators that will help consume less time. Literature list Step 5 What do you want to know? Critically thinking and reading To guarantee that all given information is correct, it is required to quote and summarize information from aforementioned sources. Summarizing Quality of referencing Step 2 All found information has to be systematically summarized, notes have to be taken, furthermore, logbook has to be completed. Step 6 Quality of Method and Planning It is obvious that without competence in the field of the study that one has chosen to make a research on, the results will not be even close to satisfactory and legit. Transcript: Here’s where you return to your initial brainstorming and “fill in the blanks”. This, like reconnaissance, is a step that you can and probably should delegate to subordinates most of the time, but you will ultimately approve, deny, or ask for further work on the plan before executing it. At this point a situation has presented itself that requires action. Begin planning is a sort of brainstorming phase. You’ll identify one or more actions you may want to take. During this phase you’ll come up with an idea of some of the risks involved with your course(s) of action. In combat, it is vitally important for a leader to get “eyes on the target”—to see what is going on for himself. In business, you may not find yourself in the middle of a jungle with a map and a compass, but the thing to remember about this step is that you are the decision maker and it is up to you to stay engaged. Again, in the military this can be as involved as an order several hundreds of pages long, with exhibits and attachments, or it can be as simple as “Bad guys coming up the trail. Hold your fire until I fire first.” Issue the Order Begin Planning Arrange for Reconnaissance Complete the Plan Arranging for reconnaissance is nothing more than identifying the things you don’t know from the first step, figuring out what you need to know to take appropriate action, and taking whatever steps you need to take to gather your information. This step is referred to as “the most important troop-leading step.” By now you’ve probably realized this supervision is continuous throughout the process. As a leader you’re not going to have the time to do everything yourself. Transcript: Six Steps to Academic Vocabulary Step One The teacher will give a description, explanation, or example of the new term. Provide learners information about the term. Tell a story that integrates the term. Use current events to help make the term applicable to something familiar to students. Determine what the learner already knows about the term. Ask learners to share what they already know as a means of monitoring misconceptions. Describe your own mental pictures of the term. Utilize examples, descriptions, but not definitions. Definitions are not a recommended method for vocabulary instruction as they do not provide learners an informal, natural way to learn new vocabulary. Introduce direct experiences, such as field trips or guest speakers, that provide examples of the term. Step Two The teacher will ask the learner to give a description, explanation, or example of the new term in his/her own words. Remind learners to not copy, but use their own words. Monitor students to determine if any confusion exists. Provide more descriptions, explanations, or examples if necessary. Request that students record these in their Academic Notebook Worksheet. These notebooks can travel with the learner as he/she moves through each grade level. If they have the general idea but are struggling with stating what they are thinking, you might move on to Step Three and ask them to create a nonlinguistic representation and then go back to the linguistic description. Step Three The teacher will ask the learner to draw a picture, symbol, or locate a graphic to represent the new term. Model, Model, Model! Provide learners a nonlinguistic method of vocabulary mastery. Share examples of other learners' drawings or allow students to work in teams to help those who complain that cannot draw. Teach the concept of speed drawing for those who labor too long over their work. Ask learners to share their work. Use graphics from magazines or the internet. Illustrate terms through symbols, with a cartoon, or drawing an example of the term. Step Four The learner will participate in activities that provide more knowledge of the words in their vocabulary notebooks. Remind learners to not copy, but use their own words. Distribute the Academic Notebook Worksheet to assist learners in organizing their vocabulary terms. Encourage learners to identify prefixes, suffixes, antonyms, synonyms, related words for the vocabulary term as "new info" on the Academic Notebook Worksheet. List related words. If English is a second language to the learner, provide an opportunity to translate the word into their native language. Draw an additional picture or graphic. Step Five The learner will discuss the term with other learners. THINK PAIR SHARE THINK: Allow think time for learners to review their own descriptions and images of the terms. PAIR: Put learners in pairs to discuss their descriptions, images, and any new information related to the terms. Comparing their descriptions of the terms. Describing their pictures to each other. Identifying areas of disagreement or confusion and seeking clarification. SHARE: Provide opportunity for groups to share aloud and discuss conceptions and misconceptions. Step Six The learner will participate in games that provide more reinforcement of the new term. Walk around the room and check their work when learners are working on their Academic Notebook Worksheet. Check the notebooks to evaluate accuracy. Having a bath is the best way to de-stress, running the bath with a bath bomb some scented candles is amazing it is the one place you don't have to focus on anything except on yourself. Shopping is a good way to de-stress because it takes your mind out of things, it it a good distraction. shopping is a great method of stress reliever and it is fun, trying out clothes. Walking Walking is one way to de-stress especially when you are alone, it is a great way to relax and just focus in life. walking calms down nerves and relaxes the brain. It is not the walking that makes it relaxing but also the places you go to walk.
