They are earthworms, leeches, and a big group in the ocean called polychaetes Dangerous/ Helpful Reproduction Source of Energy Location the leech from Malaysia waits on a leaf from a host (victim) to walk by. the stomach the leeches have, has multiple sacks for storing blood . common earthworms are usually 5-10 centimeters long. the giant earthworm in Australia is 3 meters long after a leech attaches itself to a victim, it cuts into the flesh and sucks 2-10 times its weight in blood Diversity Earthworms- asexually and sexually (lay eggs) they leave their babies as soon as they are born. Leeches- hermaphrodites (both female and male) lay eggs they leave once the cocoons are ready leeches- not endangered there is over 650 species of leeches earthworms- not endangered there are too many in the world to be endangered (9000+ species of Annelids)

Transcript: egmented Worm Annelid: Lt. anellus- "little ring" Segmented worms such as leeches and earthworms Over 17,000 known species There are three classes: Class Polychaeta Class Oligochaeta Class Hirudine Body Wall Records indicate that Egyptians used leech therapy over 3,500 years ago Leech therapy was used to treat a wide range of conditions, from headaches to hemorrhoids Bloodletting is one of the oldest medical practices, having been practiced since ancient times, including the Mesopotamians, the Greeks, the Mayans, and the Aztecs Herophilos and Hippocrates of Cos Leech Habitat Fluid-filled cavity between the outer body wall and the gut Often used as a storage area for gametes and acts as a hydrostatic skeleton for locomotion •Class Polychaeta: marine annelids; •Class Oligochaeta: marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments Earthworms are found in many terrestrial environments ranging from semi-arid habitats to moist, well-vegetated areas They live from 10 meters underground up to high in trees •Class Hirudinea: marine, fresh water and terrestrial leeches Most leeches live in freshwater animals, but many terrestrial and marine species occur Nervous System External cuticle that is never shed or molted Layer of circular muscle Thick longitudinal muscles Earthworm Naididae Polychaeta History of Leeches Lugworm Syllidae Bilateral symmetry Range in size from less than 1 mm - more than 3 m Flexible, segmented body with powerful muscles, a one-way gut that runs through the body They have both a circulatory system and nervous system Have reproductive organs; many are hermaphrodites Bibliography Body Structure of Annelids Annelids eat with a mouth that is located on the underside of the head The mouth connects to an unsegmented gut that runs the length of the worm Crop Gizzard Intestine The gut terminates at the anus, located at the end of the worm How They Obtain Food Brain or cerebral ganglion that originates and usually resides in the head The ventral nerve cord is made up of cords that are bound together and run the length of the body Benefits of Annelids https://www.reference.com/pets-animals/annelids-eat-d62f5477b99e15# http://annelidsh.blogspot.com/2007/03/habitat-and-adaptations.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annelid http://invertebrates.si.edu/Features/families/polychaeta.html http://www.nhc.ed.ac.uk/index.php?page=24.25.312.329 http://shapeoflife.org/video/annelid-animation-body-plan http://tolweb.org/accessory/Characteristics_of_Annelida?acc_id=57 https://ecosystemsontheedge.org/earthworm-invaders/ https://www.reference.com/pets-animals/annelids-important-2ed335750ed479a0 Classes Earthworms Create tunnels in the soil that help mix, aerate, enrich it, keeping it fertile Bait for fish and food for animals Leeches Used medically in cosmetic surgeries and skin grafts and to heal severed appendages Hirudinea History of Earthworms Oligochaeta In 1881, Chalres Darwin wrote a whole book on earthworms in which he talked about their importance Native earthworms were all wiped out after the last Ice Age In the 1600s, European settles brough European earthworms to North America No soil-mixing earthworms at time Coelom Phylum Annelids

Inner Circle PowerPoint

Transcript: Summative Margin #3 summative marginal #1 I chose this section because it shows how the inner circle works. The red book that can be read by anyone are the outsiders within the group, and the people that are considered in the group are given the secrets and rules by the other people that are in. Questions Brought up I connect to the author C.S. Lewis cause i read his Narnia book series while growing up I connect to the title because my life is filled with inner rings of people. 1. Lewis is trying to get people to believe that our society as a whole is made up of different inner circles that we either fit into or we don't at all, and in some cases were right on the boundary of the inner circles. 2. I do agree with what he is saying. Cause if we like it or not we as a society categorize ourselves and split into groups and form cliques. pictures pre-reading connections During Reading I connect to this because while growing i would catch my self changing inner circles just because i thought i would be more widely accepted by others even though my friend group before cared more about me. The reading strategy i found most useful while reading this was to evaluate the text. With evaluating the text i was able to pick up context clues and certain rhetorical devices to help better my self in understanding the point he was trying to get across. This section discusses: The hard work it can take to be considered in. The amount of time it takes up to get into the group. How it can be unhealthy sometimes how much you work you put in. But is worth it because it is better then sitting at home doing nothing and being left out. Summative Marginal #2 This section discusses: The point of the essay he wrote is not about being in the Russian Army But instead its about the inner rings in your everyday life For example inner rings that appear places such as Home, School or even work He also touches how it may not be just one inner circle but multiple inner circles. hierarchy: a system or organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority. moralising: comment on issues of right and wrong, typically with an unfounded air of superiority regiment: a permanent unit of an army typically commanded by a colonel and divided into several companies, squadrons, or batteries and often into two battalions. explicitly: stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for confusion or doubt. "the speaker's intentions were not made explicit" caucus: a meeting of the members of a legislative body who are members of a particular political party, to select candidates or decide policy Vocab Words This section discusses: How people are considered in or not. How often the group can change from being in our out. How there are a select few who are definetly in or out and the majority of people are on the border. How quickly things can change if you are no longer in for 6 weeks. Inner Circle PowerPoint Personal Connection #2 Reflection pre-reading I connect to this section Because I will stay after school later to partake in after school activities such as sports and deca all through out the year. all of these have their own inner circle that i juggle all year. I do all of these because it is better than being myself at home. Even though it may not be healthy for me. Personal Connection #1 Questions Answered What triggers people to strive to be apart of certain inner circles? What makes one Inner circle better than the other? How does personality affect what inner circle people want to be apart of? add logo here
