Transcript: METROPOLITAN TOURING RECOGNIZED FOR SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY Galapagos-Ecuador Foundation, sponsored by Metropolitan Touring, had a direct involvement in Coastal Cleanup Day, celebrated globally on September 20th. Next to the Municipal Government Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos National Park, Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador Navy, Coca Cola Foundation, Tip Top, and Kraft, this years efforts were focused on underwater cleaning of Academy Bay, near Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos. The Galapagos Foundation is working with the Municipality of Isabela, and other public and non-governmental organizations to develop an integrated solid waste produced by residents and visitors. Galapagos-Ecuador Foundation Is a line of special souvenirs, colorful rag animals of Galapagos wildlife, sewn by local women and filed with crushed plastic processed from waste beverage containers collected in the islands. Profits from this sale help the Galapagos community and the conservation of the Islands. These plastic-filled rag animals provide work for the women in the community, who have formed an association called Magical Hands. This is one of the projects sponsored by Fundación Galapagos. www.metropolitantouring.com.ec/ Ecuador's government aims to eradicate fuels that cause pollution of the Galapagos Islands 2015, and encourage the capacity of wind power generation. With this in mind, Galapagos has been opened in a project that uses wind energy turbines with three 800 KW. This has meant that the population of Isla San Cristobal, the second most populous in the Galapagos, with 6100 residents, halved diesel consumption.
