Transcript: House of Quality Mech. Engr. Design Methodology By: Aarifa Khatri Section: 18106 Introduction Introduction House of Quality is used to get a better understanding of what the customer desires and how the desired product can be improved, compared to existing products. This is the customer perception that is desired through acquiring targets for the product. Customer Needs Customer Needs Most times, it is best to start off on the left side of the House of Quality. On the left side are the customer needs. These needs are rated based on the repetitiveness of the need in conducted interviews. Quantifying Needs Quantifying Needs In order to quantify customer needs, metrics are identified. These metrics can be very specific to each need. Ex: volume (m^3), portability, etc. This allows for us to see in which direction we need to improve a certain need. Customer Perceptions Customer Perceptions On the right most side is customer perceptions. Customer perceptions shows how well existing products fit the stated customer needs. It also compares and shows how well the desired product fits the needs. Target Target Target is the ideal new measure you desire for the product you will build. At the very bottom of HOQ, the metrics for competing products are compared to come up with target values that need to be met. Example Citations Citations Elmokadem, P.
