Transcript: Level C Temperance Movement By Emily Harvey The labor movement in the United States grew out of the need to protect the common interest of workers. For those in the industrial sector, organized labor unions fought for better wages, reasonable hours and safer working conditions. This was Successful, thanks to many people like Arthur Joseph Goldberg. Women Suffrage Movement This movement was very important, since it gave the women the right to vote. Before the 19th Amendment, groups would form, such as the NAWSA, to protest about women's suffrage. Once the amendment was passed, people stopped protesting and it became a huge success. Many people were important to this reform movement, but one of the most important ones was Susan B. Anthony. Not only did she fight for women's right to vote, she was NAWSA’s second president. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was NAWSA’s first president. Child Labor This Movement was very important for the future of kids. The law that was created was designed to protect the educational opportunities of youth and prohibit their employment in jobs that are detrimental to their health and safety. This law is still successful today and was passed thanks to protesters like Samuel Gompers led the New York labor movement to successfully sponsor legislation. Labor Unions this very unsuccessful movement was a huge mistake, but many people thought it would be for the greater good. People like John B. Gough. A recovered drunkard himself, he began a career lecturing against drinking and alcohol in 1842. During this time lecturing grew as a profession so he was able live off his more than 9,000 lectures and over nine million listeners at them. Him and others thought passing the 18th admendment would be a good idea, because people would have a angry behavior with the drinking.

Transcript: Project Level C. Childhood Diseases By: Brendan T. Works Cited: Chicken Pox http://children.webmd.com/features/childhood-illnesses-get-the-facts Gastroenteritis The flu is an infection of the nose, sinuses, throat, and ears. Some symptoms are runny nose, coughs, fever, and sore throat. The virus is spread by sneezing, or coughing, or the germ can just be on anything and can be touched. Paracetamol is needed to heal the flu and you should still see a doctor. Anyone from any age can get the flu. IMpetigo Scarlet Fever Hand, Foot, and mouth disease Gastroenteritis is a stomach infection that can be caused by bacteria or a virus. It causes vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pains, and occasionally, fevers. It can be healed by antibiotics if the infection is by a bacteria. If that doesn't help, go see a doctor (you should do both, but I would see a doctor first). Children of any age can get it and it's spread by touching someone with the illness, eating bad food, or swimming in water containing the germ. Scarlet Fever is a highly contagious infection that starts with a throat or skin infection and then leads to a fever, flushed face, and a big rash that is spread across the body. The rash should feel rough, and may be itchy. You can get it by touching infected people, or touching infected things. It is caused by a bacteria called A Streptococcus. The only way to cure scarlet fever is by seeing a doctor and make him prescribe you with antibiotics. Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a childhood disease that children usually would catch around when they're 10 years old or younger. It causes non-itchy rashes on the child's palms, soles, and sometimes, buttocks. It also causes mouth ulcers and the child may say he/she doesn't feel good. It is caused by a virus called coxsackievirus A16. This virus usually goes around in Summer and Fall. The treatment is paracetamol. Impetigo is a highly contagious skin infection caused by bacteria. A child can get it by touching anything with the germ on it. It can happen from kids 5-14 to kids 4 and under. Small red dots appear on the face and usually, merge. Fluid comes out of the bumps, causing a gold color to cover the cluster of bumps. Antibacterial cream may be enough, but you should see a doctor and don't let your kid go to school until he/she shows no sign of impetigo. http://www.familytime.co.uk/parenting/10_common_childhood_illnesses_and_how_to_treat_them Chicken Pox is a very contagious disease, and is usually caught by children ten years old and under. Usually, children catch chicken pox by inhaling droplets of the virus, or by touching the clothes of someone who has had chicken pox. Chicken pox usually causes high fever, headaches, and a red rash before forming itchy red bumps full of fluid. The cure for this illness is a medicine called Paracetamol.
