Transcript: Don't be naive , nutrition helps you achieve! Sustainability Our design is sustainable because we are going to use a pallet for nearly our whole design. We think that our garden is also sustainable because the pallet is being reused, so it's recycling , which is always good for the enviorment. Final Sketches Problem: Fruits and Vegetables cost more than chips and soda at most convenience stores. This is causing Malnutrition( is the condition that occurs when your body does not get enough nutrients) in Austin. Solution: Our design solution was to create a garden that will fit in a patio, 5ft. by 10ft. and also leave room for the owner to enjoy their patio. So as a solution we did a stair step design with a place at the bottom for the owner to store their tool and seeds for the garden. Transcript: stage 1 engineering design presentation Introduction Engineering design process this project involves us researching vocabulary, and incorporating our knowledge from said vocab into balancing a book with only self made paper straws. Stage 1: define so for this project we hadto research center of gravity and other vocabulary, and we also had to balance a book with our knowledge of said vocabulary. stage 2 stage 2: choices 1: four paper tubes on the corners of the book. 2: use five pieces and put four on the corners and one in the middle. 3: make many tubes and line them up on the edges. stage 3 stage 4: evaluate i decided to try idea one. When i was picking my choices, i thought to myself, "what would use the least amount of natural resources?" and standing the book on four stilts was the answer. stage 4 stage 4: prototype this is kind of what the structure looked like. (sorry im not an artist) Stage 5 stage 5: test results Test one: My design worked! It held up the book just fine. Test two: I stacked two books and it held. Test three: I held up five books and it tipped over. results results My results did match my goal. I was able to stack a book atop paper stilts. reflection what can i do to make this design better? One thing i can think of is that i can maybe make the stilts thicker, and roll up some stands on the bottom of said stilts.

Many times the solution involves designing a product (like a machine or computer code) that meets certain criteria and/or accomplishes a certain task.
